Default What is wrong with this banana?

We noticed a black spot on the stem of this baby dwarf namwah after we moved it to a sunnier location (still hardening it off). I doubt it is sunburn due to it being on the stem and not the leaf, although I could be wrong - could it be too much water? Bugs? This is my first banana so I want to take good care of it.
Thanks for your advice

Does it rub off? The soil doesn't seem overly moist. Does the pot have drainage holes?

I would wipe it off with soapy water.
I look forward to hearing the diagnosis.

The petiole are turning yellow, so I suspect root rot has started. .... The pot does not look to be a type that drains; so the soil in the bottom is too wet or soggy while the top looks dry. And, due to the pot's shape it is too small. .... Next this plant is way too young & small to be in direct sun. If still attached to its mother plant, it would be under her shade & protection and should be shaded (no direct sun) until it is about 30" to 36" tall.

How do I stop root rot? It isn't in full sun yet, just afternoon.

Im not sure you can undo the damage if its badly rotted, but first step would be to dig up you plant, rinse the soil off and look to see if the roots are white and healthy, or brown or black. If you can remove some of the rotted material, and replant in a well draining mix, it may recover. Most folks recommend 50% perlite and 50% potting mix. Also the pot must drain well. Good luck!

They look ok? Don't see any black parts. Do I need to rinse more soil off?

As stated above, clean the dirt from the corm and remove any black soft rot. Then wash in bleach water for about 10 min. (1cup of bleach per gal of water). Repot

Yes wash ALL the dirt off so you can see the corm & root very well. A good potting mix for bananas will just shake off and not stick to the corm.

I don't think there is anything wrong with it. My humble opinion. Just cut off the two bottom leaves.
