Bugs on Musa Basjoo?
 

Hi,
My first time posting in this forum - I hope I'm in the right place, bear with me please...
A few weeks ago I moved my potted Musa Basjoo indoors and yesterday I noticed countless tiny black insects spread all over the underside of the leaves. They seem to be crawling out of the main stem and look like bugs (less than 1mm in size). I tried to vacuum them off the leaves but they cling on like glue. Does anyone here have an idea of what they could be, how to get rid of them, and whether they "spread" to humans or pets?

Needless to say that from the moment I noticed them I feel itchy all over my body and I'm in complete panic mode. I tried googling for answers but if I see one more photo of "popular" insect pests I'm going to vomit.

Please help? Thank you!

I would mix up some sevin or malathion and spray...

Could be fungus gnats.
Those fellas usually run rampant once a plant is brought indoors..
A photo would help .

A bottle cap full of sweet oil will control them ......alittle.

Where are you located that you brought your basjoo in already? I'm in eastern Canada and mine are still in the ground....

@cincinnana / @sputinc7 - sprayed them with soapy water and it seems to start working, for now..fingers crossed

@chris_zx2 I'm in the UK, and a complete amateur when it comes to gardening so I might have overreacted when the temperatures started to drop a few weeks ago....

I'll make sure to add photos to any future posts, noted!
