Hi everybody,

Maybe you remember of my frozen tall Orinoco which I did’nt expect to come back to life.

Here are :

- Two pictures taken in april with the remaining truncheon of pseudostem.
- Four pictures showing the mat at the end of august and an unexpected flower emerging from the frozen pseudostem.

Nanas are really growing fast !

Haha! Congratulations Phil!! I always say you can't keep a good Orinoco down, and you have just proved it!! I hope you have time for the fruit to ripen and get a late summer! You must be so pleased (I nearly said "thrilled" but them realised it was a bit "girlie" of me). Love the anti-wild-boar fence btw!

My basjoos always look like that after the hard frosts, but they send up new growth from the 'fried' p-stem such as your's does. I never have tried to winter orinoco or dwarf orinoco outside. Have to think on that. Congrats!

Hello,

Here is some updated pictures of my Tall Orinoco flower.

First hand : 5 bananas.
Second hand : 4 bananas.
Waiting for other hands.

I noticed that wasps forage flowers, maybe looking for sweet nectar.
Do you see them on pictures n° 3 and 4 ?

I have heard that in Croatia you have bigger wild boars than us.
Are they a problem to your garden ?
Maybe they stay far in the forests ?

Hi Phil,

Well, they are big. In my village in island Krk there a LOT of wild boars.
Every year more than 10 are killed in my village.
They are not too agressive, but will eat potatoes and stuff.

The bigger problems are deers. They are eating everything they can. But only the good part. Like the 'heart' of many vegetables.

Also, few months ago hunters killed a bear! He didn't even eat animals, just green stuff from forest. He came to island by swimming, he swam all the way to my island And he was killed about at 250 meters above see level.

The only thing that has been eating my bananas are- snails. But I got through that. By beer!
