Re: Fried banana
yeap..great and Delicious..
(Fried banana @Pisang Goreng or Goreng Pisang ? No matter what you call it, it's no doubt one of the most popular snacks in Thailand, malaysia, indonesia, philipine and Singapore..or other south east asia country.. Spreaded by Austronesian widely dispersed throughout the islands of Southeast Asia and the Pacific.. Pisang Goreng (fried banana in Malay/Indonesian) is a snack food mostly found throughout Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore. In Singapore and some parts of Malaysia it is known as Goreng Pisang (Banana fritter) instead of Pisang Goreng (fried banana) (Goreng is a term for various types of fritters eg Goreng Ubi, Goreng Cempedak). It is consumed as a snack in the morning and afternoon due to its warm nature in serving. Pisang Goreng is often sold by street vendors , although some sellers have a storefront from which to sell their wares. The Banana is battered and then deep fried. The fritters that result are often sprinkled with a cinnamon sugar and occasionally served with fresh cream[citation needed]. Today's pisang goreng are more sophisticated and served in various ways, such as with cheese, jam, or chocolate. Some argue that it's done to increase the image of the food as it's traditionally seen as food for middle and low income consumers. Plantain is often used as the batter adds some flavour to the banana. Pisang Raja is a popular kind of banana used for Pisang Goreng. Pisang goreng is also a Malay idiom that means something that is in hot demand what eva. It sounds very easy to make a Pisang Goreng: make the batter, dip the banana in the batter and deep fry it. The reality is: it's hard! The hard part is to find a good recipe for the perfect golden brown Pisang Goreng batter. A perfect Pisang Goreng has to have an extremely light, porous and crispy batter. Malaysian Pisang Goreng (Fried Banana Fritters) Recipe (Recipe adapted from Amy Beh's cookbook) ![]() Ingredients 1/2 cup self-raising flour 1/4 cup corn flour 1 tbsp rice flour Pinch of salt 1/2 tsp baking powder 180ml water 1½ tbsp oil 5-6 bananas, halved Oil for deep-frying Method 1. yeap but can used for "banana nugget" yum yum!!!... ![]() ![]() Banana Fritters / Cekodok Pisang Serves 2 3 ripe bananas, peeled 1/2 cup flour 1/3 tsp baking powder Pinch of salt Oil for frying 1. In a bowl, mash the bananas well. Add in the flour, baking powder and salt. Mix well. You will get a slightly thick batter. 2. In a wok or deep pan, put in the oil about 1.5"-2" high and preheat at medium heat. 3. Scoop the batter using a tablespoon and slowly let it 'slide' into the hot oil. Make sure the spoon is not too high up from the oil to avoid splattering. Fry until golden brown. Flip once or twice during frying. 4. Repeat step 3 until you have used all the batter. Fry between 6-10 of them at any one time depending on the size of your wok/pan. You dont want to fry too many at one time since that would change the oil temperature and you will end up with soggy fritters drenched with oil. |

Re: Fried banana
I just made banana fritters 2 days ago. Looked up several recipes and selected the Jamaican fritters. Almost the same as yours but they had teaspoon of Vanilla extract, 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon and 1/4 teaspoon of nutmeg. I pan fried instead of deep fried, and they were great.
I keep talking to my banana plants trying to encourage then to flower so I will not need to buy bananas from store. Craig |
