Insulin Shock Toast
This is a desert version of french toast and somewhat prep-demanding. There are many different types of bread you can use, though I prefer to use banana bread. If you do not have banana bread, add bananas to the batter below.
- You will need: Carmel sauce (instructions below) Batter (instructions below) Several pieces of banana bread (if you don't have banana bread use banana in batter below) Vanilla Ice cream (no you don't have to make your own ) A frying pan Lots of butter - Sauce: 1 1/2 cups brown sugar, packed 4 tablespoons flour 1 cup boiling water dash salt 2 tablespoons butter 2 tablespoons cream vanilla, to taste - Mix sugar with flour in saucepan; blend well. Add water and salt. Stir while cooking for 6 to 8 minutes. If too thick add a little more water. Remove from heat; stir in butter, cream, and vanilla to taste. This will be your syrup. - Batter: 1 cup whole wheat flour 1/2 teaspoon salt 4 eggs 1 cup whole milk *2 ripe bananas - Blend well and set aside. - Grease pan using a thick chunk of butter or fat, do not use vegetable oil. Soak your bread in the blended batter, making sure to turn it on each side. Heat up your frying pan to medium and begin frying the soaked bread, allowing it to cook well on both sides until it's a medium to dark brown. Serve with a thick chunk of butter, a scoop of icecream on top, and a small amount of carmel sauce. - Note: This is very desert-like, not for an average breakfast. If you don't feel like making the sauce simply add a few teaspoons of brown sugar to the butter in the pan and that will lightly carmelize the toast. |

Re: Insulin Shock Toast
Sounds sinful. Must be GREAT! I'm going to have to give this recipe a try.
By any chance, did you copy your avatar from the TyTy web site? LOL! |
