Default i made a video of removing a girdling root from my jaboticaba

i removed a root in the spring and the tree responded fairly well to it so when the soil washed away and revealed another big girdling root i decided to film the process (or at least a before and after)

Are wrap-around roots a habit of this species?

a google search showed someone else pruning a girdling root as well
and i saw another image of a large girdling root as i scrolled down
basically i dont know what i am doing
rhetorical question?

thanks to that search i know there are different varieties of jaboticaba

now i will have to figure out which one i have

well my jaboticaba definitely stopped growing for quite a while
it stayed in the shade for the rest of the outdoor season
this year it was in a spot with not that much direct sun so it hasnt grown much
no fruit either
here is a pic i just took
and another showing the wounds slowly healing over

I took a page from your book and took a myer lemon and did a bonsai trim.
The plant went from a 12 gal to a 3gal container ..I did trim the girdle root and teased the roots for a over the rock grow.
Roots are stretching slowly but nicely.

Thx for the push...

The plant is a third year grow....4-6 should be pretty good for final shape.

Your plant looks awesome!!!
