Re: It's lobster claw season
It's root hardy here but since it blooms on second year growth, it's not at all reliable since we usually get that one freeze that knocks it down. I grow it in pots and it is easy to protect for me. I pull them in on my covered patio. The bloom grows downward and I've had them as long as a foot and a half. Very impressive. I'm going to send you some when I get your box together.

Re: It's lobster claw season
Great pictures, Steve. When my Curcuma zedoaria blooms I'll try to post some pics of it. Hopefully yours will bloom too!

Re: It's lobster claw season
Very nice Steve! Mine have been blooming nicely as well.
Everyone loves these heliconia when they see them for the first time, they're floored!

Re: It's lobster claw season
Nice Steve. Mine is also starting to push out a few flag leaves. Should be in full bloom by summer.

Re: It's lobster claw season
Steve,
Much to my surprise, my C. zedoaria was already open when I got home yesterday! I snapped a couple of pics for you. I'll get them posted ASAP. I had vehicle issues yesterday afternoon as well, so I didn't have time last night. I'm starting to see some growth on the heliconias I got from you a few weeks ago. Really looking forward to seeing these progress throughout the summer! |
