![]() Grapes are fun to grow, and so rewarding. They'll need more support as you go along. If you learn to prune them the right way and you don't get diseases, they will grow like crazy.

![]() I got a jumbo muscadine plant about a month back -
Muscadinia Vitus rotundifolia Jumbo grape - its in a big pot in the backyard right now. We don't have any full-on sun areas in the yard, but it would be nice to get something going with them. I'd love it if I could grow it onto a trellised fence ... optimistic! |

![]() Re muscadine, when we moved here to Chattanooga, we learned that's what's on this property. We also planted a red flame, and thompson's seedless white, and both are growing quickly. The muscadines are coming on gangbusters. I'll run out and take a photo. The former owners created a very rickety grape arbor out of old pipes that are essentially being held up by the old vine wood. We want to replace the whole structure with a nice pergola, but we have other priorities this year (new entry doors, master bath, etc.--not to mention another banana tree, haha). So it'll have to wait until next spring.
Can't wait to taste the muscadines. I just harvested my first zucchini, planted only a month ago from seed. The sucker's huge. More later... Tennsage |

![]() We'll probably make jelly from ours. Being California transplants, we are not used to the preference for sweet wines here in the South. I'll bet muscadines would also make a wonderful syrup. Will have to check out recipes. Hoping you have a bountiful crop!

![]() Good thing my husband doesn't visit this site. We had coons dig up and destroy most of our plants we had on the porch. He was ready to shoot them, but someone else down the road beat him to it, thank goodness. I chased a couple youngsters from the porch several times, but they thought it was a game and kept coming back. Their dad was just plain in your face mean. He's the one that is now in coon heaven, after upturning one too many trash cans, I guess.
