California Gold after freeze

This is my California Gold after an overnight freeze of - 3° C / 27° F. The night before it was only a bit below freezing and the leaves were fine, but this frost killed most of them. After I took the picture I cut all except one. The stem seems to be fine.

Make a mulch mound around the base up as high as the fourth or fifth leaf. After the last freeze chance passes take the mulch pile down to normal level of 4 to 6 inches above ground.
