Those are some pretty big plants! Hawaiian Apple does great in L.A., and you don't have to worry about any serious banana diseases here.

Yeah, they were big. Now that I look at them from far away, I think they must have been the regular apple (Brazilian) bananas, not the dwarf variety. They were incredibly heavy to haul to the dump when I had to chop them down after bearing fruit. Hmmm...in L.A. we have only one green waste container, and one tree would fill up several - the trunks are so heavy and the city has a weight limit. And I'm going to have to haul the spent plants up to the street from three stories down our hill. I already have to do this with agave, which slices me to shreds. I don't know how long I can keep this up. I can see the headline now: Silver Lake man murdered: crushed by banana and stabbed by agave
