Re: Southeast "Dry-Root" Winter Storage
You're lucky – I'm 5'3" and had to get them by myself down into my basement. Fortunately, mine weren't near as big as yours, but I swear one rootball/stem weighed like 200# since it was just me! BTW,...

Re: Southeast "Dry-Root" Winter Storage
Wow! Great job! That's commitment! :)
Just thought I'd pass this along as an FYI to keep your eye on: I've also used straps and two of them started to cut into the p-stem a bit from the weight. I...

Re: Wintering E. Maurellii in HZ8,-7 or 6?
I'm in HZ6a and was told early on that EMs do not survive dormancy, so I've tried and managed to get them to last the winter indoors with the help of a grow light in a back bedroom (normal house...

Re: Prepairing for Winter
Hi Chuck,
I live in Zone 6a and have been overwintering basjoos in-ground for a few years now, leaving the height at up to 5-6 feet of p-stem so I'll have more height the following year:
1) Cut off...

Re: Going bananas in Ohio
I think you are definitely onto something about leaving the leaves on as key to shape, as the outer leaves being removed apparently cause the base to dry and tighten up, creating a rubber-banding...
