People use it all the time.

My maximum temperature is 28degrees and when it's off it cools down to room temperature. My room is unheated, so about 15 degrees.

It doesn' t matter that much provided there is a big difference...

Musa needs fluctuation, but especially the colder-growing ones,...like basjoo, sikki, itinerans ect. Zebrina is a tropiscl one I'd say, but velutina might like fluctuations.

Ensetes for this matter...

Yes musa needs temp fluctuations, a longer cool time than hot. I give mine 8 hours hot then 16 cool. I have a timer on my propagator.

Ensete ventricosum and E.glaucum

They were in the water for 3 days and then at a constant temperature of 27°C (80 F)
Sprouted one week after soaking.

I planted 50 seeds from Musa cheesmani 3 weeks ago and today I saw that one had germinated!
What do I do now? wait until it gets larger?
I have them in a propagator without light.

Update. 02 Mar.2013.

As of the 2nd March, a total of six Ventricosum seeds have germinated successfully. Two were scarified and four were left un-scarified. All are now in individual pots and kept...

Most sellers buy their seeds from the same few growers abroad and the seeds are stored untill they are sold. If you're lucky the seler keeps the seeds in the fridge untill that time, but not many do....
