Can someone confirm this is a Manzano bloom?
I've got (what I believe to be) a manzano blooming. Can someone who has this variety confirm that this matches their blooms? Thanks in advance.

Re: Name this banana?
Thank you. Given the maturity of the mat at this point, I'd be surprised not to see a bloom soon. I'll post a pic when I have one.

As you can see, from 1 plant with...

Re: Manzano flowering in Phoenix!
I don't have an exact measurement, but I would guess it's a bit over nine feet to the flower. That's based on the 10-foot wall I can see behind it, it's a bit shorter than that.

I acquired it as an apple sized corm, with no roots or above ground growth two summers ago (this will be the third summer). It is pretty established now though, and has three large psudo stems, and...

Re: just tried to grow my first pup= Failure
You're in Arizona? Bananas grow well in Arizona, but struggle to build roots in the dry soil, as well as to acclimate to the intensity of our sunshine. I start everything first in a pot where I can...

I was going to say near the exactly the same thing. I've had mites indoors in potted bananas, but they disappear when moving them outdoors. I rotate potied ones outdoors periodically just for this...

Re: Would you cut this out?
Thanks, that was my first reaction as well. Rot is a relatively significant problem in Phoenix when you transplant something during the summer months. The heat tends to make the outer layers want to...

Would you cut this out? Or let the plant try to resolve it on its own?
I usually cut...
