Re: Young Pups and Giant Corms for sale, 11 varieties

If Gabe can confirm that this isn't a true Cocos, I'd be more than happy to refund your money. Like I mentioned above, I'm having serious doubts about it now that the bunch is developing.

I've...

Re: Young Pups and Giant Corms for sale, 11 varieties

I completely agree. The bunch is small, sticks out perpendicular to the ground, and has plump 2" long bananas that look like they'll start ripening in a month or so. It was stunted from being...

Re: My New Banana House

Thanks for the reply, you bring up some good thoughts.

I'm hoping this tunnel will put out enough heat that I won't have to brace the spine. I have around 12,000 gallons of water in there that...

Re: Patupi and her pups

Every time I see the name of this cultivar, I hear the old song, "I say potato, you say potatto, I say tomato, you say tomatto..."

"I say Patupi,
You say Tapupi.
I say, 'Do you mean
You think it...

My New Banana House

Here are some pics of my latest pit-style tunnel greenhouse, which is around 80' long x 17' wide and has a 4' deep pit. The planting areas have been dug out an additional 2', so from the perspective...

Re: My semi-pit banana greenhouse

As I noted above, this semi-pit tunnel greenhouse is on its way to becoming primarily a fig house. I've been moving all of the bananas out and into a new, larger greenhouse that I've just built. ...

Looks great!

How much longer till it flowers, do you think? Maybe another 4-6 weeks?

Re: My outdoor 'mini-plantation' here in Kansas

The bunch of bananas in the pic above ripened well, but none of the other plants flowered. It took the others too long to get acclimated, and they were only just getting going when cool temps...

Re: My semi-pit banana greenhouse

The lowest air temp was in the upper 30's. Dwarf Orinoco pstems don't lose any height from those temps, but I do manually chop them back some at the end of winter to try and give them more headroom...

Re: Florida Hill Nursery?

Re: At what height do your Dwarf Namwahs flower?

Thanks for the insight, that's exactly what I was hoping to hear. :08:

The ceiling in my new pit greenhouse is around 11', so pstems around 6' would be ideal.

I've been trying to get a Dwarf Namwah for a couple of years. My first attempt, ordered through FHN, turned out to be a Dwarf Orinoco. I've just made a second attempt through Going Bananas, but I'm...
