![]() I've read somewhere (don't remember where) that SH stands for Selected Hybrid.
I'm very curious about the characteristics: parents, height, fruit taste, cold tolerance etc. This plant seems to retain the nice strong red colouring in all new leaves, not like the other bananas that only have red markings as pups and dissappear when old. Also it has a very high WAF (wife acceptance factor) in the garden... |

![]() There is not much info or pictures on the web. A few places do carry it though! SH is Selected Hybrid.
So who's going to buy a tray from aggri starts and piece them out to us? ![]() |

![]() All I know is it is from FHIA, so from the same people that brought you 'Goldfinger', 'Sweetheart' and all those.

![]() Maybe I'm overlooking something but what is the difference in SH-3008 and M. acuminata ssp. zebrina or 'Rojo'? I've grown zebrina for several years now and it's leaves look longer and narrower to me, but otherwise I can see no difference. Does this one have edible fruit?

![]() Nikos,
It looks very much like my Gran Nain X Sumatrana that I just dug up. Look at attached pic to see the red pattern and the red ribs. It had a major infestation of tiny bugs that looked more like ants (6 legs) than spider mites (8 legs). Right after the original plant collapsed, 7 pups popped out and are now sitting in the shade potted. They look fine. For the heck of it I doused the momma with bug spray, repotted it and it is slowly starting to reshoot. Amazing! Also amazing, a Greek restaurant has opened in Fort Pierce. I went and stuffed myself with 2 Yeeros with extra tsatziki. I asked if they did kapamas and got blank looks. Maybe they are Yugoslavian, who knows??? Still looking for your pup from California, very difficult, will let you know. Dan |

![]() I am considering purchasing one from Going Bananas but now doubt it. I just got off the phone with Don who said that the differences between it and the Zebrina (aka Sumatrana) as well as the Grand Nain X Sumatrana ("X") cross they cary are negligible. While I find them atractive, I'm not interested in growing a strictly ornamental banana at this time.
