Bananas Brindando 2nd year banana enthusiasts

Hi my sister and I bought some banana trees from some friends last year. we love them, I almost cried when we had to cut them down last year. We had an extrememly warm march tho and they all started growning, then in April we got the dreaded frost. We covered them but some still got damaged. They are coming back to life again and now some of them are about 4 or 5 feet tall and we had to cover them again last night. I have not been home today yet to check on them, hopefully we did a good job. I am wondering if they get stronger by cutting them down every winter or digging them up and storing them.

There are few are a few members in your part of the state, ask them what their procedure is. If it is going to be an annual event make it as easy on you as possible and the task will be more of a pleasure. We are in central Florida and although temps drop to freezing they don't usually last too long. We got a lot of burnt leaves and learned a better way for next year. Good luck.
