You're asking some good questions. While I can't answer I would caution that you research any Thailand sellers for good feedback before you invest a lot on a plant. Some sell plants without any roots which in my limited experience can be tough to get growing. Good luck.

P.S. Take some time to explore the site. It can take a while but there's lots of good info.

Jasmine, Black Musa Tanee is the Thai Black Musa balbisiana aka known as Thai Black. This is a variant of the normal M balbisiana with a totally black p-stem and it get to about 9+ feet tall. Look around the mail order places, they are often found. In fact as I recall, Agri-Starts have TC'd it. Check out an old thread in the Species Banana Forum on this.

Good evening Jasmine,

Tog as he normally does has informative correct answers. Thanks Tog.

Yes Agristarts does TC Thai Black, I bought some from them and they are the most vigorous cold hardy musa I own. I don't think however, that they may ship them to UK. If you may and can, get them from thailand, that may be your best option.
