Finally a Flower
Hello, I have been growing bananas for a while and learned a lot from this site. I finally got a flower from my pink velvet banana so I thought I'd post a picture. I have some other varieties and hope for more blooms next year. All my Cavendish bananas dried out under my stairs for some reason, but came back from the corm. My Musella survived the same conditions and didn't dry out. It started up again without missing a beat and may flower next year. I also toy with trachycarpus which as seen temps as low as 5.9 dgrees with no protection and has suffered little damage even with freezing rain and snow. Hope you like the pix.

Re: Finally a Flower
Hello and a very welcome, I see you are already here for a while.
Congratulations with the flower and the Trachy Fortunei is very hardy indeed. Some people protect the grow-point in the winter but I have several myself and I don't do that. Even small ones survive. Ron |
