Default Hello

Hi,
First time caller, although I grown bananas for a while both in Atlanta and around Detroit MI. I am a landscaper and have been for 20 years, I don't install them but grow them for me in my yard. I stumbled on this site from a thread somewhere. I have overwintered a hardier variety in Mi for two years, but the one I have now "I think" Musa abyssinian 'Maurelii', is not as hardy and I want to whack it and bury it over the winter. Is this possible? I overwintered it last winter in my guest room. It is real big now and ultimately what I am searching for is can I take all of those leaves off that quick in succession without cessation.
Any info appreciated,
Jeff

Jeff, Welcome to Bananas! You will get the answers you seek here. You might also run a search for threads or posts overwintering Ensete Ventricosum 'Maurelii' as there have been quite a few posts on that subject. Good luck!

Howdy from Maryland! Where are you located now? If you put it in your profile it'll help everyone help you.
