Hello!
Hello all
I have been browsing the site recently, been helped by a few people so far, but haven't really intoroduced myself....so here we go. Name is David, living in Central Ohio. Dont grow too many things as of yet. Like Tropical Plants, and growing things you can eat, so that is what drew me to the Banana. Also love a challenge, so when skeptical family members said I couldn't grow it, I enlisted the help of you guys here to prove them wrong! I'm growing a Gran Nain, which has really taken off in just the 22 days I have had it. It has thrown 4 new leaves, and the 5th is halfway out. I am also growing 2 DC that started out not so good, but have each thrown 2 new leaves in the past week and a half. Wouldn't mind acquiring some other edible fruiting banana plants. I am growing outdoors now, and inside under a 600 Watt MH and HPS system during the winter. Space is somewhat limited, as I'm using my garage, which is only 10 ft tall. So thank you everyone for the help you are providing, and what other types of banana plants would you recommend from your experiences for my situation? Glad to be a member! |

Re: Hello!
I am guessing it freezes during your winter, so you are planning on somehow over-wintering indoors. Will they be kept dormant in the rafters, or in pots with artificial lights?

Re: Hello!
They will be in pots with artificial lighting. WOrking on the details, but will buy a system with an interchangeable 600 watt Metal Halide and HPS bulbs.
