The huge sweet one is likely a "Saveh". Every pomegranate collector dreams of owning one. My climate does not have a summer warm enough or long enough for the Saveh. Two members here, Chironex and Damaclese have the perfect climate for it ...

I think It's not Saveh . It's probably different variety. Because Saveh has red colour fruit peel. Mine has Yellow peel. I'll take its photo next time and put it here.

Welcome!

Is your pomegranate with the yellow rind a "sweet" type with low acidity?

Richard, Saveh is a region in Iran and I've been told that many different ones are called by this name. There are some commercial plantings of them 100 miles south of me near Merced, CA. I bought one from an Iranian nurseryman here in NorCal but it did not grow. He promised to replaced it but I didn't get it, follow-up was difficult because of a language barrier. I think I'll drive by his place and just take myself a cutting from one of his display trees next to the street and it will be the end of that. Their size is a bit of an exaggeration from what I've seen (he brought fruits to the Wolfskill tasting last year), but they are good.

Once again, welcome Hexus!

Yes, there are some growing at a fruit ranch in Ramona, CA. They are large, 4.5" diameter. Good acid balance, like a nectarine.

So Hexus, tell us more about your yellow-fleshed pomegranates. Harvey and I are fruit-crazy !!!

It's very high sugar content. I dont know Saveh. May be It's named different here in Turkey. Because We have got varieties changes from city to city sometimes even from town to town. They are all different. There is a town nearby which is famous with its poms. Poms grows very well in Mediteranean climate. I live in a city which is on the coast of mediteranean.
Anyways I'll post my pomegranates pictures soon here.
Take Care.
