Mabuhay Lavern! I am also very interested in Philippine banana culture and hope that we can exchange ideas, plants, seeds and have fun while doing so. Welcome to Bananas.org

I would enjoy learning about your research. I have a friend near Tacloban City whose grandfather is a banana grower there.
Salamat

Maligayang bati at tuloy Po kayo sa ating samahan! You are in great company here. Also, I know of some banana growers near LB, and a lot from Mindanao. You also are in great company there at UPLB.

Here at bananas.org you will find many new varieties seldom heard of in the Philippines. Even so, there are a lot of members here that pride themselves for growing Saba, Pitogo, Praying Hands (Sabang Dikit), Kandarian, Lacatan, the prized Seņorita, Cardaba, and a few other Filipino varieties.

Mabuhay Lavern and welcome to the board from a fellow SEAsian!

Yep, nice bunch of folks here who are always willing to share on 'naners. Looking forward to hear more about 'nanaers in the Philippines. In the mean time, run around the various forums and have fun.

I am seeking a source for Senorita plants or corms. Do any of you have access to these? I want to TC them and provide a source to our members.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Hello Scot,

I've been asked a few times now about access to Senorita stocks, so I have been working as much as I can here so far to supply these. Right now I have just a few young plants growing in the field that I am looking forward to removing corms from in the near future. I am also in the process of setting up permitting for importation into the US in partnership with my son in the San Francisco area. I would be glad to be of help in supplying you with good stock from what I've got started here. My plans are to harvest corm stocks for export as well as expansion of this variety here in my field. Let's keep in touch and I'll keep you informed of my progress here.

I'm quite impressed with your lists of Banana species and cultivars grown. I am quite a neophyte to the world of bananas and as yet only have only about a dozen varieties. In the near future I will be acquiring one or two of the types on your wish list, Textilis for sure. One of these days I'll get around to making up a list as you have as well as posting more photos. Not having internet access at home here, I have to rely on the vagaries of the local internet cafe, which can be exasperating to no end at times.
