Hi, I'm new to the forum
Hi,
I really lover var. bananas!! although I don't have one I have been looking for any type. I figured I wouldn't start with the AeAe because people say they are hard to grow... I don't know? But i have been waiting for others to show up on 'the bay' or something( preferably in the US)? But it seems all they have are Ae Ae.. not that i don't like them, Because i love the foliage on the AeAe,I just don't want to Kill an investment. Can anyone give me guidance on my situation? http://www.bananas.org/images/smilie...rcisenaner.gif |

Re: Hi, I'm new to the forum
Welcome. As to guidance, first of all, I would say to quit looking at those variegated bananas because it's addicting. I never thought I'd do it, but I finally broke down and bought an Ae Ae for $200 and then I bought a variegated Namwah from Thailand next week. You shouldn't worry about "birdbangkok" on eBay from what I've heard (plant is on the way), except for the shipping cost.
Being in zone 8, you could start out with Dwarf Namwah, Rajapuri, Dwarf Brazilian, and a California Gold, if you can find one. |

Re: Hi, I'm new to the forum
Well, Living in Texas doesn't make life easy when you like tropical plants, for a while i was looking for any kind of banana for sale around here that wasn't a basjoo, But that pretty much sums up what is here banana wise. There are variegated bananas on this site that i have never seen before like the Sweet cream, is this a hybrid or did some one find one to buy? I see Pics of Ae Ae all the time... Where did you get yours Harvey? I think I'll bid on the one from Thailand.
Thanks, Matt |
