Default Hi Y`all.

I am a rawfoodist and live in Denmark. I try to grow as much of my own food as possible and I would just love to be able to grow my own bananas. I recently purchased some Musa Velutina seeds from the UK, that I am very excited to receive; but I really would like a dwarf cavendish. Turns out that isn`t so easy to get, since I can`t get seeds and receiving plants from an other country is a big no-no! A friend put me on track to this site, seeing the video on sending roots, so now I am going to see, if I can get me one of those through here. I am already a gardening addict and something tells me, I am about to become nuts (pun intended) about growing bananas. Thanks for taking me in. I will be looking forward to some nice exchanges. The Best to You All from Daina

The EU recently increased the requirements for shipping live plants, both into the EU and between EU countries. The requirement is to have CITES certification. Most wholesale growers of ornamental plants in the EU have this but not so for fruiting plants.

Hi and where are you from? Sounds like some southern USA lingo. Matters not, good to see others wanting to enjoy bananas. You should be able to find someone in your neck of the woods that can provide a plant or two for you. Good luck and stay posted.

CITES regulations don't differentiate between business or personal orders. I haven't looked up the CITES regulations on musa but did look into Hylocereus last year and it just wasn't worth it. I'd have to get an import permit to import endangered species and the sender would need to get some government agency (such as Fish and Game here, I was told) to sign off that the plants were not collected from the wild. This only deals with inter-country shipments, not intra-country.
