Im a Newby
Hello everybody, Im new to growing bananas. I grew up in a small town in Maine. My Grandmother had an amazing banana plant when I was little. Since then I have always wanted one. I moved to California a year ago and decided to grow one of my own. I was really happy to find this site full of excellent info and great people who know their stuff. I am happy to be a part of this community.

Welcome xmoose, must be a bit of culture shock . What part of maine were you from, I had friends in the Limington/ North Hiram area west of Old orchard beach. There's lots of folks here who can help you with all things banana. Good luck with them.

Youre right, it IS addicting !!! After I planted my first one and saw it triple in size in 2 weeks i decided to order a couple more.... any suggestions for a zone 9 -10 ?
California was a HUGE culture shock. Everything is different here. But, the weather sure makes up for the things that I dont care for! |

Welcome, Chris! Your climate is a bit cool so it may be a challenge to get a plant to fruit there but you should be able to get many to grow well. I'm east of you in the Delta. If you're in the area, let me know and I'll loan you a shovel so you can dig up a pup. I am also hoping to camp for a few days at Point Reyes so we could possibly meet up and I could hand off something to you then, if you're interested. I recently nominated myself as chair of the NorCal welcoming committee, so welcome!
