Cold Just joined, first time grower this year!

Hi, this spring/summer will be my first attempt at growing a banana plant. I decided on the Musa Basjoo, as I read that its one of the most cold hardy plants. I will definately need that and warm wishes to survive the Upstate NY winters! I will be planting them to give my pool area a tropical feeling that we rarely get up here. My yard gets direct sun almost all day, so hopefully that will be a plus. I have read alot of posts already, and the information will be invaluable to me, as I am a complete newbie! I am open to any advise to help me along this process!
Thanks, and looking forward to learning and growing!!!!
Rick H

you could also try orinoco...cold hardy to a point..wind damage minimal..and if it makes it you can have fruit you can actually eat instead of just look at and wish you had fruit you can eat...anyway welcome and lets see some pics..good luck

Joy Re: Just joined, first time grower this year!

My first two Basjoo's arrived today!!!! They are about 6 inches tall, and each has 3 or 4 small leaves! They are in a small 4 inch pot now, should I move into a bigger pot soon, or let them get started as they are? So excited!!!!
