Looking for banana seeds
Would love to add a variety of bananas to my front yard food forest.
Looking for seeds that would do well in Zone 10A in Southern California. Last edited by yrtwins2 : 03-24-2018 at 12:28 AM. Reason: Additional text. |

Re: Looking for banana seeds
Welcome to the Bunch ... you have a lot to learn ... Seeded Bananas are not considered to be eatable. but, you can try & spit seeds like eating watermelon.
Eatable Bananas like Cavendish or Gran Nain can be found at you local Garden Center or Tropical nurseries. |

Re: Looking for banana seeds
The seeds he list are ornamental type Bananas. While ALL bananas are eatable, the seeded type are not desirable or grown for fruit. Eatable type bananas are sterile and propagated by division.

Re: Looking for banana seeds
Yep, what you probably need to buy are corms and small plants. They grow fast especially in your zone. Check the for sale section on here for some reputable growers.

Re: Looking for banana seeds
What zip code? If you're close enough you can have a few pups from my garden.

Re: Looking for banana seeds
Sego Nursery in Valley Village not too far from you has a few varieties. But choose carefully . Sometimes they have mushy pseudostems.
