![]() I began growing banana plants sort of by accident! My neighbor's banana plants corm grew under our 6 foot cypress fence in the back corner of our lot in the outside area of our enclosed pool. Two pups came up on our side of the fence. Even though they were destroying the bottom of our fence I let them grow to maturity. Wow! Eighteen months later we got bananas... and more pups. Five years later we have been planting many varieties of banana plants. When I found Grand Nains in a nursery in Louisiana I ordered 4 and moved my 2 huge mysores and 12 pups behind my front yard fence and planted the grand nains in they're old spot. They are only two foot tall but they are really taking off.

![]() One of my banana plants has double row hands. No it's not praying hands. These are separate fingers in two rows of the same hand. I can't find anything about this on the net. I planted an ice cream and a pisang raja last fall but there is no information as of double rows. Any ideas as to how did I get double rows in each hand. The bananas are smaller than my lady fingers at 4 weeks that grew in the spring. The flower opened about 4 weeks ago. I uploaded a picture in the member's galleries as suncoastwes.
