![]() Hi! I'm a retiree new to the Florida panhandle -zone 8B. I've lived in the northeast and been a gardener all my life, but have never tried growing bananas (the edible fruit kind). Any suggestions as to what to try first? I have a very small but sunny yard. Thanks.

![]() Welcome Bailey!
You might want to research growing any of the following: Apple, Ladyfinger, Rajapuri, Ice Cream, Red Jamaican, the list goes on and on.. These grow fast and all of these are edible. Now to mention these all produce distinctly different plants that each is special in it's own way. Try to get your plants as corms cut from a mother plant. If it is fruit that you are after, this may save you a few years waiting for tissue cultured plants to get up to speed. These are somewhat easily obtainable, but as you get into it, you may want to also try some of the lesser known kinds. We'll be here with you every step of the way! ![]()
