New to the forum
Hello world.
I work at a tissue culture lab that does small fruit here in the US. I actually work in the greenhouse as Assistant Grower. we harden off the plants that come out of TC stage II media into plugs that are field planted. My true love for the lab stems from my love of fungi. After building my flowhood and learning sterile technique and agar.....i expanded my knowledge from microscopic tissue culture of spores and mycellium...into something slightly larger.....multicellular organisms. I found a local greenhouse that sold banana plants....that they tissue cultured. I purchased a few...Super Dwarf Cavendish, Rajapuri, and Velutina, with the hopes of enjoying a few fruit....maybe...... Now I feel I should do something with them....like TC! 2 plants are throwing pups. I plan on removing and cleaning them tomorrow. I'm going to search around the site....however....if someone has pictures of how large a pup has to be before removing for culture...THAT WOULD BE GREAT! I have NAA and 6-BA that I plan on using with MS media in ball jars. I order my chemicals through work...Sigma plant cell culture section. Well.....here I am. I'll post some pics of my hood at some point. |

Re: New to the forum
The smallest pup that I have TC'ed so far was about 12-14" long. I was able to get the apical meristem quite easily. It is ready for its third sub-culture now.
