Thank you for the welcome posts.

2Woodensticks, we do not grow coffee here but I drink it very often during the day. Snakes, they are here but I do not get too friendly with them at all. Yes, it is very warm here during this time of the year in the mid of our summer. My home language is Afrikaans and second language is English.

Abnshrek, I may not grow bananas but love them and it is grown in our country. I have a few trees but more for their presence in the garden. They produce lots of babies. One tree had fruit on it but did not mature properly due to my little knowledge of them. I love the leaves but the strong wind in Cape Town breaks them to shreds quickly.

Here is a photo of our Table Mountain taken from the back of my house. It is now one of the seven wonders of the world. I hope that it is posted correctly.

That's a gorgeous picture. Mountains make me nervous. Where I live, it's flat. And I grew up on the water... also flat.

What kind of daylillies do you grow?

Thank you for all the welcome greetings. I am still finding my way around on this site because it is quite different to all the other forums I am a member of. I have many photos to show of the plants I grow and will post them here if it is allowed and if the members would like to see them.

Wolfyhound, I love both the water and the mountains. I live very close to them. I live high up on top of a hill as you may have noticed on the photo. The mountain and the sea is about 8 miles from me as the crow flies. The Indian and Atlantic oceans meet behind the mountain and the Atlantic is to the right of the mountain. The photo below was taken from the back and away from the mountain shows you where the two oceans meet. It is called Cape Point. I grow all kinds of Daylilies but my favourite is the ruffled edges and those with sharks teeth. I love any flower that has green in it.

Roger, I have some banana trees which produce a small creamy banana but they are only for the tropical effect in the garden.

See my banana trees in the photo with my one Clivia shade house in the back ground.

This is Robben Island in the back ground towards the right of Table Mountain in the Atlantic ocean about 4 miles from Cape Town harbour.

The area where the two oceans meet

This photo was taken down at waterside

and there are many baboons there too.

Those are gorgeous and you have everything right near you! Oceans, mountains and lots of cool plants.

I'm trying to start out with bananas that will give me naners to eat. Even my flowerbeds are more likely to hold vegetables than flowers most of the time.
