Pinwheel In the zone 7 corner......

In the zone 7 corner weighing in at 14 palm trees and 0 bananas standing tall in two pots.................KKKKKKYYYYYYYpppaaaalllllmmmeeerrrrrr. hahahah

Hello ladies and gents, growers of all ages and ethnicities. My name is Abdullah or you can call me KYpalmer. Haven't had an attempt at bananas yet, but will make my first purchase in the spring, God willing and we will see how it goes from there. I enjoy gardening, canoeing, hiking, fishing, camping, crocheting, hand writing letters to friends (yes I actually still send hand written letters via post LOL) and spending time with my family. I am married with a 5 year old and one due in 6-7 weeks time.

Not to sure what else to add, hope to learn lots and make a few cyber/penpals.
Thanks for your time.

Hey Tom. I'm in zone 7A (Kentucky) and it just started dropping below 65 at night. The palms I grow are not necessarily cold hardy. I have a variety of Onayzahs that are originally from Qassim that do great, especially if you clear bag them for the frosty nights. I have a few hybrids and a few pygmys with trunks ranging from 18 inches - 3 feet. I actually sold some of my baby hybrids to an international grocery store owner over the summer and he is looking into purchasing more in the spring and to allow me to put a few in his store to sale. So it will be interesting to see what takes places over the next few years. He didn't think that I grew date trees and when I showed him he was blown away LOL.

Welcome to the forum. I grow cold hardy palms in my 8b Pensacola garden. Nothing to wild (I got tired of funerals for zone pushers) mostly Phoenix palms, some Chamaedorea, Raphis and a the obligatory Queens. Oh and one mule. Good luck with your venture with Bananas. There is plenty of information here to guarantee your sucess.
