![]() from florida hills nursery. it was supposed to be a gros Michel but its not. no red stains on top of the leaves. finely see some red under the leaves. just figure i'd start the post. but right now a guess might be interesting.
it has big fat round leaves.

![]() Other than no wine stains, it looks like something from the Cavendish subgroup...Does Gros Michel ALWAYS have wine staining?

![]() The staining is dependent on conditions and age of the plant, its not really a solid diagnostic trait. In opinion it looks reasonable for Gros Michel as evidenced by the distinct red band on the petiole margin.

![]() I agree. Looks a lot like my Highgates. Did it never have wine stains? Even as a small TC? My pups never show wine stains. My Williams pups never show them either.

![]() I asked because it looks a lot like GM, but without the wine stains. Mine had some, but not really pronounced like a Cav is.

![]() Awesome Beam! Hope you have the real thing! It looks pretty good so far from here. I am truly blown away how well my highgate grew this year! Most cavs can really suck up a lot of fertalizer compared to other types of Musa. Makes them grow like rockets. Hoping mine flowers this year. Good chance it may. I will keep you updated if it does!! Could end up being a fruiter in our zone, if we could overwinter a large pup in ground.

![]() figured I would update this one.
still don't think its gros michal. the plant looks almost identical to my dwarf reds I bought from pukpukz. comparing plants of near identical size. leaves are almost identical, round and wide, they curl upward at the tips. even water sits on the leaves the same. the petioles are almost identical shape and color. the p-stem has the same stature and diameter, very thick looking at the base husky looking. the only difference I see is the lack of red or should I say there is not but half again the color red on these compared to the others. even the mid ribs lack the red color, more of a slight pinkish hew very slight. red at the top edges of the petiole and down at the base but the rest is very pale. it gets the same amount of sun as the others. bought this from florida hills nursery supposed to be a gros michal. none the less a very very impressive and pretty plant.
