Unknown banana... anyone can help?
Hi,
I got this banana from somebody. This guy is growing a bunch of them here in zone 8 since late ninetes, when he took home some seeds from Brazil. The adults, are tall about 9 feet or more, long slender leaves that looks very shredded. The guy said they produce bananas every year but winter comes and they don't ripen. Anyone has any clue of which kinf of specie it can be? Thanx, G |

Re: Unknown banana... anyone can help?
Well, those pictures are not a whole lot to go on. Since there are no native bananas in Brazil, it is an introduced species. Is the bunch upright, or is it pendent (like most edible bananas)? Right off the bat, I'm thinking Musa ornata.
