First off I have to say I love this site. I have been here since last November. I joined so I could increase my knowledge before I ordered the plants. And have been reading as much as I can ever since.

I am in zone 5 so I got basjoo and sikkimensis. I am pretty sure I got the correct plants for the sikkimensis but I am unsure of the basjoo. I have not found any where that the description states that there should be red/maroon splash on the top side of the leaves of basjoo.

Here are the Sikkimensis. I am sorry but I did not get a picture of the maroon color on the underside of the leaves, like I said I think I got the correct plants so I did not take as many pictures.

If these are basjoo's GREAT if not what would you guess they are? If more pictures are needed I can take them, just let me know what you need.

I don't know what they (in the 1st four pics) are but , I am pretty sure they are not Basjoo ...

Thank you for the replies. I was still having problems posting earlier so decided to try again now. I can click the Thanks and it disappears without any problems but when I posted to my double post it was taking for ever and never did tell me it went. I do not want to mess up and double post again.

The first four do not have the red/maroon on the back like the ones in the last two links I posted earlier. Sikkimensis from what I have found have the red/maroon on the back of the leaves from what I have found. Are there some that don't?

Would anyone know of any place that I can find a list of musa that have red/maroon on the leaves? Or any ideas on how I can id the plants so I know how to care for them. They are great looking plants so I do not want to loss them over the winter - there are not any that look like this that are zone 5 hardy - at least from what I have found. I have also read that some musa do not go dormant and survive. I do not have room for all of them as house plants. I do not want to kill them off if I can help it.

I know go back to the person I got them from – done that and have not gotten a good answer as of this time. It is a co-op and the plants came from agristarts.com. I have looked at agristarts.com and have not been able to narrow it down. That is why I turned to this site.

Hi Wapsigal,
Sikkimensis is very variable both in looks and hardiness here is a pic. of my normal green sikki.
I would say all yours are Sikkimensis too, and not Basjoo.
