Default Help! My basjoo has bugs.

This just happened today because I check my basjoo everyday.

There are little black bugs on the undersides of the leaves. See photo. They are black - about the size of a pin head. Basjoo is small enough right now that I washed it in the sink. What do I do for these bugs? Soap water? I live in upstate New York and don't know what these bugs are? The other plants around it don't have them.
