Musa Basjoo - Winter Protection/Pup Separation
I decided to take my 6 months old musa basjoo inside for this winter and replant it outside next summer. I also separted two basjoo pups and left the rest of the pups attached to the mother plant. The mother plant and pups were potted and taken inside.
In our culture (southern india), we use banana plant for so many things, like food will be served in banana leaves during marriage and other religious ceremonies, we cook banana flower (extremely good to remove stones from stomach and kidneys), green banana (before it ripes), banana inside stem (again, xtremely good for removing stones), and banana fruit will be served to god during all religions ceremonies. Thats why i'm using the potted musa basjoo mother plant and other banana (SDC) next to Golu (9-day ceremony to honor 9 planets; by placing traditional dolls/gods in a decorated stair case) - sorry for the lengthy explanation. |

Re: Musa Basjoo - Winter Protection/Pup Separation
Very interesting to hear your cultural uses, along with the medicinal uses.
