![]() Hi
![]() Since I haven't find any topic about this variety, I start this thread to speak about Musa 'Himalayan Mountain', a variety found by a nursery man ( who runs '' La Maison du Bananier" in France ) in North India at 1750 m altitude. It's a good grower, and quite cold hardy ( here, covered with a transparent plastic sheet, in a sunny exposed place, it didn't lost any stem, even the smallest. We dipped down up to -6 Celsius during few hours/nights last winter ) I have never eaten or seen bananas from this variety. https://ibb.co/svcv50T |

![]() I forgot to mention that I live in South west of France, near Bordeaux. Summers are hot, and winters are not so cold.
Last winter for instance, we get as low as -5 Celsius degrees, for some hours, nights. Very few cloudy days with constant negative temps, because we are not so far from the seaside, as soon as it rains, temperature rise, and we are frost free ( hence we seldom see snow here ) During day, sun exposed places, rise above 0 Celsius. Big plus, our soil is drainy, sandy, and it can rains for days without to be water logged, damp. There is a big avocado tree in my hometown that sets avocado fruits sometimes, and it's not a Mexicola type. Just to help you to figure out my climate. |
