Re: viente cohol in Ga.
here a little update on my veinte cohole experiment.
its funny thinking back on the trouble i had even getting my hands on one to grow its like most of the people who had them were in charge of protecting a national treasure. i had to resort to the nice thai sellers to get one. then to be the safe side i was able to find someone here nice enough to trade with me. it got severely beaten down by an unfortunate chain of events. i think i would have pups if i had the cohol spread out in more than one place. unless people were a little more diligent in spreading these things out and letting everyone get a chance to experiment and learn more about these things or unless someone on the board is able to grow them and keep a large pool of them and propagate them, then the members will be forced to go to one of only a few sources.. that's fine if you guys like to drop the money that the average seller wants every year to experiment with them. to be honest the current rate and availability kinda sucks. ok this may sound evil to some people but im not trying to screw with anyone's business but if i had any pups i would have traded every one of them for something i didnt have... thats just me. in the end people will still buy plants and decide who they want to deal with for whatever reason. its such a bother to buy this plant right now no matter what source i look at.. i dont think i will go thru the process of obtaining another pup just yet.. i will concentrate on growing other things for now. Re: viente cohol in Ga.
I hear ya Ron,I know some members have good luck with this plant, but mine sure wont do much.I did manage to keep one alive over winter, but it has such a slow growth rate for me here I almost wish I had something else in its place. Maybe one day soon they will be plentiful and cheap, until then no more for me.

Re: viente cohol in Ga.
i actually got it to grow at a pretty fast rate. a mistake was made last winter. if i had a decent sized pup right now with our hot weather i could definitely get more pups bylate summer. i would spread them out before fall officially hit.

Re: viente cohol in Ga.
Ron, well, Veinte Cohol seems pretty easy to get these days. Our "buddy" at Florida**** is selling them for $7, Going Bananas and Logee's both have them for $25. Despite our bizarre interaction with buellracing, all three of these sellers have provided me with quality plants.
My bigger concern with Veinte Cohol is that based on the experience of others here, it doesn't seem to handle cool weather very well and makes a very small bunch of mediocre fruit. But I'd love to hear otherwise. My VC is still a little guy. It'll need to make it through this growing season and into the next if I'm going to get fruit off it. Good luck with yours! Cheers, Mark |

Re: viente cohol in Ga.
well yeah still $35.00 is avg. for a t.c. plant after shipping/handling... assuming there is no "wait list" which causes you to receive your plant when the summer is winding down.
$14.00- $20.00 to get a comparable sized cohol t.c to your door is reasonable.. assuming the seller realizes that glui kai and viente cohol is not the same plant. im not implying any foul play but what i really want to assume is that one of these guys*hint*. got a pup from one of the other sellers and set up a contract with agristarts to mass produce a couple hundred t.c. plants.. this is probably why a lot of nurseries are so suspicious of certain people getting certain plants they sell exclusively.. they ask lots of questions before they sell to you.. especially if you ask questions the average joe does not ask. its very competitive.
