Wack it, or let it grow ?
In a grove of 4 bananas (Musa Bajoo), one of my Bananas on only it's second leaf has sent out a flower. Am I better off letting it sit there and send out pups, or should I whack it. ie will the say wacked Banana send out more pups cut off not having to spend energy producing Bananas ?

Re: Wack it, or let it grow ?
I would say there is zero reason to remove it unless you are looking to get pups to divide off to start new mats. The flowers are pretty cool to watch develop, so why not enjoy this? I understand the fruit is without value on a basjoo, but why not leave it on there and see how far it can develop over the summer? You'll likely get a bunch of pups either way, as this is just a natural signal the fruiting plant sends the roots.
I guess I have to ask: what are your goals in growing bananas?

Re: Wack it, or let it grow ?
Thanks for your input, I have decided to leave it even though it is leafless. I have long ago cursed the flower because I know it's the end for that Banana. I am now more about the size itself and the number of non trashed leaves.
