Carolina, you just to need type some info into the blanks, any info will work. The last blank is if you want to post a picture.

Re: About the new map
Well, if some strange fella where to end up on your doorstep begging for a banana pup, he may get a little... miffed.
Hey - am I the only one stuck in Texas? Jeepers - I'm so isolated out here! Sigh... Grin, Mike |

Re: About the new map
Zac, I'm so totally unimpressed with basjoo. Maybe next spring I'll have to try another one that's not a little wuss like what I have now. Just don't know what's wrong with mine.

Re: About the new map
Mitchel, instruction, huh? It's like you're saying, "be a real woman, do what you want" *Hehe*
Mike, yeah, it's the "strange" part that worries me more than the "miffed" part. And you've got the whole state to yourself? I have to share.... |

Re: About the new map
Carolina- They really aren't very happy in the heat of summer( better in the spring and fall from my experience), but mine are maybe 14 feet overall. Most have about 6 feet of pseudostem right now. The mat is 3 years old from a 15 dollar, 3 gallon plant from Home Depot. I know I have sent divisions of mine to Gabe in Colorado and to a friend just outside of Chicago. The one in Chicago seems to sulk in the heat, but I think it needs to be mulched heavier than it is right now.

Re: About the new map
Yep, Zac.. it just seemed to take a turn for the worse when we had those really hot days a few weeks ago. I'm expecting it to do better next year.. (with more than just a foot of psuedostem, and yeah, stop the danged snickering) ..and will plant it in a better location.

Re: About the new map
Carolina, sounds to me that you want to be on the map. Just put a location close to home like others have done or you could put a location like in let's say......Costa Rica!

Re: About the new map
Put the marker on Ramsey High School, NJ, minutes from my house. At my house this image appears to have been taken long before I discovered bananas!
A side note, sorry for bringing it up in a banana forum, but its been on my mind for several days: - FDNY Firefighter Mike Reilly who you may have heard about on the news, died last Sunday while fighting a fire in the Bronx (NY)... He was a buddy of mine at RHS for 3 years in the marching band, and he will be sorely missed. His funeral is today, Friday, Sept 1, and is drawing up to 20,000 firefighters from across the country, and will more than double the population of our small town. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers when you read this. In addition, please look at this link to learn about my fallen friend, and his lieutenant who also lost his life in this tragedy. http://wcbstv.com/local/local_story_241115459.html Regards, ~Joe |
