![]() Hi
I have had bananas inground for 20 years. My Sikkimensis, Ornata and itinerans are out. 2 of my 4 basjoos are not, 1 has a 3 inch growth, the last one 3 trunks at 2 feet. Usually the 2 big ones would have 4-8 trunks at 4 feet by now. They are always out first in the 20 years i have had them. I saw some in my area and they are well out. Nothing changed in my yard and they are very far apart from each others like 100 feet. Mulched as usual, trunks trimmed as usual, mild winter… Any idea? ![]() I have had portions of my basjoos die over winter. In my case I suspect it might have been something eating the plant....voles, rats, mice...dunno...but haven't had a whole plant die. I am assuming since it sounds like you are an experienced grower its not from any cultural changes/differences from previous years.
I suspect they aren't dead and if it were me I would just give it time and of course, as always, keep us posted.

![]() Ok the big one is the back is now coming out well. I had to remove some dead trunk and they are underneath.
Just very slow this year. Same with the 2 smaller one. Pulling the dead trunks reveals growth, they should take off. Now the large one in the front still has a 3 inch little thingy coming out. It usually ends up with 8-10 six inches across trunks. It might have been eaten by something but i don’t see animal activity. I will update in a week or two Thxs Pat |

![]() My banana's are big and purple, and I don't know how to fix it. My Grandma says it's an eggplant but she has dementia. She doesn't know my name, let alone the difference between a banana and an eggplant. Please help. Also my dad killed my mom.
