Water. Lots of it. They will move, then you can poison the new mound. I have had really good luck with the Bayer ant killer dust. It only takes a little bit per mound.

Also, Rotenone (pyrethrins) will get them, just don't let the spray get on the nanner leaves!

I've had good success with diatomaceous earth around my strawberries in the past. Use it liberally, and apply again after it rains (even though it'll still work after rain).

The ants have easily evolved to pick out easily only the sugar crystals from the boric acid crystals. Moreover, the queen ants have a recipe of making an offspring type that is more tolerant of ingesting boric acid.

Boric Acid is not very poisonous. I guess, if the little critters ate enough of it, they would die. It works because like diatomaceous earth, it's an abrasive to their little bodies, and dehydrates them. Maybe this happens when they are learning to seperate the sugar from the mix? It works on contact(carrying, walking through, etc.). The sugar is used to attract them.
