Gimme a couple of months and I will show you a pix what two dummies (me and my partner) look like when we harvest at least 20 plts of Pisang Raja Udang. We aren't gonna look so happy like you cos one dummy(not me) grows them to give away as goodwill presents. I am not unhappy cos I am stingy but it's killing driving around and giving that many hands away. Dummies.... |

Interesting thanks for the info. I did see those ones Mitchel posted that was so cool. Well I hope your next flower is better timed. I wish we could somehow control that.

Re: Banana bunches harvested December 28, 2008
There has been some talk about cutting back a plant and forcing it to "reset". Perhaps, if this unknown variety isn't 9' tall by July, I should whack it back down to the ground. That's just an example, maybe it would have to be 8' tall by mid-June it should be cut back in my climate. If I were really organized, I would probably experiment with this. In general, though, I should probably be working with shorter varieties in my climate.

I find it's better to have it all together than to be all together there. I'm still working on the having it all together part .

So can you compare the flavor to another variety you have tried?

Re: Banana bunches harvested December 28, 2008
Hmm, I tried a few different types at Jon's and they all run together in my head right now. I did try some of Jared's at one time but that's been quite a while and I don't remember what it was.
Today I ate several more and some had skins that were getting pretty dark and they actually tasted quite good. They are ripening at a fast pace....I need to speed up! |
