Banana seeds from chinese auction portal
Hey guys.
I d like to ask you if u had any experience with cheap seeds from aliexpress ( chiness auction portal ) ? There are many auctions with banana seeds f.e musa basioo: 100 seeds pack for half dollar, or pink banana with the alike price. Maybe im naive, but i think usuall e-shops prices arround 0.2 $ - 1 $ for 1 seed looks irrational for me. You know... i just imagine guys in Ethiopia or R.P.A preparing some ensete fruits for lunch and cursing all those nasty :P seeds they have to throw out to save their teeth So maybe those cheap seeds from aliexpress are reall ? I think they should have alot of this stuff in Asia :P But the question is why they r selling it so cheap if all e-shops trade it for xxx % more. I've ordered few packs to try. Probably i'll be cheated and the birds gonna have some rarity dish :P Let me know if u had tryied this way of seeds getting. I will try to describe my experiences here when seeds come. |

No experience. You could not even pay me to waste my time and money to try anything they have to offer.

Re: Banana seeds from chinese auction portal
I'm tempted to try them if only I had time to attend to germinating seeds. But I am so preoccupied with my private consulting, where coincidentally, my client is shopping commercial air conditioning equipment from Alibaba over my specified US made A/C equipment. He thinks that he's going to save tens of thousands of dollars that way. I do find some seeds on Aliexpress very inviting. My other concern is the veracity of the information pertinent to the product. But if you have time to try the seeds, for a buck, it's not much to lose. Who knows, what you get may be authentic. Good luck and please share your experience.

Re: Banana seeds from chinese auction portal
I was tempted to buy some cactus seeds from Aliexpress, but some sellers won't answer any questions, other sellers won't tell me if they harvested the seeds and/or if it was this year, And NONE can send me photos of the parent plants. But ALL seem to sell seeds for Rainbow colored roses or Blue Strawberries, Neither which can be grown from seed as The Roses are dyed and the strawberries (I believe I've read) were just developed by a lab some where and are not available ANYwhere.
But, since your seeds are not for some Seedless variety, like the Pink or Blue bananas I've seen listed, You may be good. The Blue ones, btw, I've seen the Original pic and they were not blue in that one. When I contacted a seller with that pic of blue ones, with the original photo, they told me they "are reputable seller and sell true seed". Yeah, Sure! Gotta love photoshop. As long as you didn't buy these - https://www.aliexpress.com/item/50-P...8-17f51d0b9750 Don't these look Legit?

Re: Banana seeds from chinese auction portal
Thanks guys.
Sure, these photos are funny. Ive recieved same answers from sellers as you recieved. They dont want to give any detailed informations and seeds photos also. It looks like a fake from every side. Anyways, my order is on the way since 1 week. Probably will arrive in next 2 and will see what is it worth... I took seeds for the test from here http://tnij.org/1hlo0o8 (link is shorted) Looks most serious in comparison to others. Some musa basjoo img, dwarf cavendish, mr Miyagi house... |

Re: Banana seeds from chinese auction portal
I'm not that knowledgeable to ID from a flower or fruit, but maybe someone on here can ID the flower bud on that link you posted. Also never seen fruit from basjoo
There's some really odd looking ones that would be cool to grow... Like this one: https://pl.aliexpress.com/item/50-Pa....12783.35057.0 Just look at how small these are! They're Bonsai :-) LOL Too funny But I really like the look of these red ones! Are there any real varieties like these? I mean, Just as red... Even if they have seeds? Well, Keep us updated on your progress/success

Re: Banana seeds from chinese auction portal
I think it would be an adventure to grow any banana seeds. Just pretend they are plastic Easter eggs with a surprise inside.

Re: Banana seeds from chinese auction portal
banana seeds come in a variety of shapes and sizes, don't know if they are banana seeds or not. but none of them have germinated in a ziplock bag. been in the bags for over a month. seems to me if they were grass all would have germinated long ago. I will let you know when I know for sure. but also the seeds do not cost that much, I paid less than 7 dollars for each pack of seeds and received anywhere from 50 to 200 seeds for each variety. rainbow, red and dwarf Cavendish. I believe I received some Burmese blues from them also, looked like the ones I got from somebody from florida, just a bit larger.

The rainbow fruit they show in pics are fake and photoshopped to the best of my knowledge. All the pictures you see of the different colors are just commercial cavendish photoshopped. Most photoshopped extremely well!! Also dwarf cavendish do not have seeds. (I mean it is possible if your a banana breeder and have hand pollinated but then you will get 1 seed out of a thousand plants). Still keep us updated. Hopefully they are still some type of banana seed or ensente and will germinate. Do you have any pictures of the actual seeds? The experts on here could confirm if they are at least musa/muscella/ensente or something else. Confirming by pictures will also be a huge service to others thinking of purchasing from them. Sure it's a $1 or $5 or $10 but if these guys are scamming, any $ we stop from going to them is that much less they will have to expand their scams and take advantage of others.

Re: Banana seeds from chinese auction portal
could be true though, might have sterilized the seeds so they will not grow. but each package has different seeds, may be smart enough to use different grass seeds. we will see. but the red bananas are sold from many different sites and countries. we will see.

Ok... This has been an ongoing thread with some confusion So.... Are the seeds large, Black and Round? Do they look Anything like this? These are Banana Seeds. Yours should have looked something like these. or this? As for the pink ones, those are M. velutina and are readily available in the USA. No need to waste your money from a China seller But, they look like this Not this THAT one is a Photoshopped banana Picture. Any Banana seeds you buy that are supposed to grow "Rainbow" bananas is fake. The bananas in This picture are All Photoshopped These are not real Red Bananas are real, but you will not find seeds from reputable sellers as they do not typically produce seeds. I hope that helps clear some things up and answers some questions

Re: Banana seeds from chinese auction portal
like your 2 pictures of seeds from over 1000 varieties of bananas. kind of what my snow banana seeds look like, except they are smaller. and smoother. got them from texas, also got snow banana seeds from china about the same size as the ones from texas, but have the texture of a hair ball from a cat. don't believe cats live long enough in china to get hair balls. now I have Burmese blue banana seeds I obtained from a place in fort Meyers florida, they measure 2 mm, 8 times smaller than your what ever they are. they are roughly about the size of the end of a BROKEN PENCIL LEAD. now I got seeds from china, Burmese, looked the same, just a tad larger. got one to start, got a leaf and died. oh well 59 to go. also bought seeds from a place in Georgia, supposed to grow 40 ft tall, also itineran, none edible bananas. these look like the Burmese blue seeds, but slightly larger, less than 3 mm. less than 5 TIMES SMALLER than your seeds. and none of the itinerans have the naval.

Re: Banana seeds from chinese auction portal
Aliexpress and seeds in a no-go!
Musa seeds are almost always fake and something else, and other seeds are often old and do not germinate. Because they're so cheap people still buy it, but don't, they fool you, and pollute the world by shipping with very polluting boats. So don't buy and unnecessary stuff there! Kind regards, Remko. |
