banana superstision on boats
NO BANANAS ALLOWED ON BOAT DURING TARPON SEASON!!!
This also means banana muffins, trail mix, etc. I am not kidding! I found this on a fishing charter web site. How can someone be scared of a little banana. Do anyone of you keep bananas away from your boats? Supposed to be bad luck in case you did not know. |

Re: banana superstision on boats
I found some articles on this a month or so ago. It seems that there are a lot of people out there who believe that bananas bring bad luck to fisherman .
Here's a few links : The Story on Bananas and Bad Luck Superstition, They don't call me lucky for nothin', Richard Alves, The Fish Sniffer There are a lot of sites with these type of stories. I had dinner with my aunt from Malaysia last week and asked her about banana plantations and she told me about a superstition . Some people there believe that if you tie a red string to the p-stem of a banana plant and extend it to the bedroom window of someone you don't like they will be visited my something scary. According to this legend if the person is very strong or strong willed the scary thing will find you instead ! |

Re: banana superstision on boats
We discussed it during the first few months of this forum's birth. What I remember is that it is only the Hawaiian nobility who are allowed to eat bananas while the minions fishing and it is indeed bad luck if you are caught eating a banana at that time. You will lose your head!

Re: banana superstision on boats
I saw the picture in your gallery, read the comment in the picture, then searched google for "bananas tarpon"
I found their webpage as the first result (and this very thread below it in the search results). Boca Grande - Charlotte Harbor, Florida - Tarpon, Snook and Redfish fishing Charters with fishing guide Capt. Mark Bennett-FAQ Interesting superstition!
