Re: Bananas only produce fruit once?
Each pseudostem (trunk) grows for about a year in ideal conditions (this varies) then puts out a bloom and bananas start growing. Again on average about 4 months later they ripen. As soon as you cut the bananas off, you can then cut that trunk off at ground level. BUT by this time, you should have several other pseudostems of varing heights growing to replace that one. If you cut off or let grow pups that spring up at the correct time itervals, you can stagger the size of the stems in the clump to produce fruit bunches about 2 months apart, one after the other. I goofed and had 2 Raja Puri both fruit within a 2 weeks of each other and I'm up to my eyeball in nanners. Hope that helps in simple terms.

Re: Bananas only produce fruit once?
Yep the pseudostem dries up and dies after it fruits, leaving the rest of the growth cycle to the pups.
