Default Best type of potting soil?

I'm going to temporarily pot a 2 ft Dwarf Brasilian pup and am trying to figure out the best potting soil to use. I'm a bit confused because although I've read that one shouldn't use regular potting soil ( and I have SuperSoil), I've then read that you should use 50% peat moss, and next read that you shouldn't use peat moss at all because it tends to hold water too long. I have lots of peat moss, some coarse sand, and SuperSoil, as well as a yard full of clay like soil, and a bag of gypsum. Do bananas like a slightly acid soil (pH 6.5 or so)? What is the preferred mix in use by forum members?

Regards,

jc

I use "Jungle Growth Potting Mix". You can get it at your Local "Lowes" store. Have had good luck with it!

Good Luck,

Frank

Found the answer in the CRFG fruit facts...Bananas like an acid soil, pH 5.5 to 6.5. There you go! I've ordered pH test strips and the rest should be easy, especially since I'm also growing blueberries.

Don't know if this is true, the acid soil, this goes certainly not for all bananas
and I know of a member who has bad experiences growing bananas in an acid
soil.

I use promix hp on all my bananas. It works real well. You can usually get it at good local garden centers.
