Default brown mush and crooked trunks

My largest in bloom banana has some of the outer stem from leaves already lost turning to mush. As far as I can tell I need to remove that ASAP because it is a disease? Or is it simply part of going into winter (though mine are staying way above freezing and I think above 55 degrees. The leaves from this area browned a while ago. Plenty of green leaves left.

I just bought some pups. One must have been growing in a pot that have fallen over. The pstem is hooked and doesn't go straight up. Will it straignten its self to the light like alot of plants or should I plant it with the plant up and the crom sideways or should I cut off the vegetation and let it regrow from the ground. It is indoors but it is chilly here. I think it will grow slowly indoors. So if you answer cut it please clarify cut it now or wait til spring and cut it. It is small enough it isn't going to effect a bloom I think. These are new plants with only about 4-5 leaves.

It is not a disease you can leave it. You can re-pot the pup so that it is straight
