![]() Hello from Vero Beach, Florida " where the tropics begin ",
I have 8 or 10 very healthy plants --2 of them are now blossoming . BUT I'm having a problem with 2 plants. I bought a plant at Walmart which had a label reading that the plant was from Costa Rica and would produce big yellow fruit as we see in supermarkets. The plant was doing very well and I transplanted a pup to another area. Lately the big mother plant has been putting out small and deformed leaves. fertilizer and water has done nothing to help. And today I see that the small plants' 2 top leaves are brown/yellow and about dead .All the other plants look great--putting up a new leaf almost daily. The purple bud ? [this is my first banana garden ] is as big as a football . Why is this one plant not growing ? PLEASE help. Mike Higdon |

![]() Welcome Mike!
If you can show us a photo of the plant in question it will greatly aid us in helping you to sort out the issue.

![]() Hello again from Vero Beach,
Thank you for the reply. I have not been able to upload the photos. My wife will help me with it and I'll get them out as soon as I can . I moved back here from Colorado to my home state last August and fell in love with growing bananas. I bought a house here in central Florida and there were some plants in the back yard. I have added many more . I have gotten local banana varieties with a bunch of funny names and descriptions such as " Ice cream banana " and " tastes like apples " Two of the plants have just put out huge purple buds the size of footballs , this is why I'm worried about the one from Walmart. I read about bunchy top and the plant is putting out smallish deformed leaves. About the pictures--my daughter took 5 pics with here phone .Maybe the problem is that all the pictures are one file . I can take individual photos with a camera tomorrow . Thanks again, Mike |

Yes, I have begun another obsessive pursuit . My wife is somewhat exasperated having watched me go from coins to gems and crystals, to pocket watches, to guns, etc. etc.... Oh well, I'm getting quite the tan . Another gone bananas, Mike |
